Costa Rica La Minita

  • Located in the Tarrazu valley, on the Tarrazu and Candelaria rivers. Owned by Bill McAlpin, this is one of the first coffees to be sold as a single-estate coffee in the early-80s. La Minita is a Euro-prep coffee, which means it is hand-sorted to make sure there are no defects. Nowadays many of the super clean coffees are sorted mechanically and by computers, but in my experience nothing can clean a coffee like hand-sorting. Not only is this the cleanest coffee we have, but La Minita also provides jobs for the 60 women who do the sorting each season. Caturra, red and yellow Catuai, and Typica varietals.
