- When Ariel Montoya visited us in the Summer of 2024, he let us know that he sold Hacienda El Boton, the farm his grandfather had started in the 1930s with plantations of the esteemed Maragogipe variety that we used to create this amazing coffee. The good news came from Ariel’s wife, Cristina Garces: they took trees from El Boton and planted them at a farm called La Eternidad, which Cristina inherited from her father. THIS, my friends, is the very first harvest from those transplanted trees. To call it a micro-lot would be a stretch. All told, the entire harvest is around ten pounds roasted. Cristina says she likes it very much and tastes a lot of blueberries in the cup. She wants to know if we like it enough for her to expand the plantation... (Note: this is an 8-ounce bag of whole bean coffee.)
