  • Yirgacheffe is to coffee what Champagne is to wine. This region in Ethiopia is renowned for its high-grown heirloom coffees that consistently deliver a smooth cup with nice acidity and delicate flavors reminiscent of Darjeeling teas. This one came from our friend Steve Holt, who formerly sold us all those memorable coffees from Ninety Plus: Nekisse, Aricha, Kemgin, and so many more. Steve is now working with another 90+ alum in Ethiopia, Ashenafi Argaw, who sourced this coffee as well as our Betibiroti from the Sidama region. Eleven hundred small producers combine their harvests for this exceptional lot, and it’s an occupation that the locals take great pride in. Iwariti is an Amharic word meaning “love and persistence,” which is an apt description of these hardworking people. (Photo courtesy of Steve Holt, Unravel Merchants.)
