- Ask Luz Helena’s son, Felipe, and he’ll tell you that his dad’s farms were failing until Luz took over. She’s a woman with a green thumb, apparently the appendage of an iron fist. When you’re cultivating coffees of this high caliber, it won’t do to let managers slack off, no matter how kindhearted you are. Every time I see Luz, she seems very happy to reunite and somewhat embarrassed that she’s wearing the same outfit as the previous time I saw her. But I probably am, too. This coffee is one of my favorites because I love Caturras and I love naturals. Because of the soil, elevation, and meticulous drying process, I find a lot more top notes in this coffee. I think you’ll be surprised at the mouthful of flavors that seem very familiar. Maybe it’s just wearing the same outfit as it was last harvest.
