Shot Grinder

I am the owner of at least a dozen different hand grinders. It all started with that steel tabletop mill with the wooden drawer in front. In Moab I stumbled on the GSI backpacking grinder that was shaped like a UFO and was impossible to use. We sold that for a while, then GSI upgraded their design to the standard cylinder (which we also sold), but I'd already "upgraded" to the Hario Skerton, which wobbled like crazy. I replaced the glass jar on that with an adapter ring that screwed onto my Nalgene bottle (and that kicked off a whole other brewing project). Then I started designing my own manual grinder (with the help of my friend Paul Kruger), but in the midst I stumbled on Comandante, which became our go-to for several years. Since, I've bought an absolutely terrible grinder from snowpeak at REI, a Timemore, the flat ghost burr Normcore, and Miir sent me their grinder. I've tested out several others along the way (Fiorenzato Pietro, Orphan LIDO, etc), so you can believe me when I say you don't have to pay a lot any more to get a capable manual grinder. This one will do the job. 

It holds 25 grams of coffee and has top and bottom bearings that keep the burr from wobbling when you turn the handle. That's most important. It's compact, and operates with a conical burr set. The handle is about 5.5 inches long from center to center, about an inch longer than Comandante. The handle is a tad small, but we have a few replacement knobs if you want an upgrade. It's small enough to get your hand around, and has knurls to help you grip. Click adjustable from espresso to French press.
