The Crosstimber Cup

Doug Casebeer, artist in residence at the University of Oklahoma and unofficial potter in chief of DoubleShot Coffee Company, has come through again with another outstanding cup. It's a piece of art, really. A vessel with which to imbibe DoubleShot coffee. Doug is an artist of the people – he makes ceramics to be used for everyday consumption, hand-built objects that connect individuals with the earth, the place, and the craft. These cups are inspired by the Oklahoma countryside, where tempestuous winds blow from the southwest and everything has a lean to the northeast. Fired in a kiln fueled by fallen oak, crosstimber oak, the ash creates a glass-like surface with the glaze. It's the latest, but not the last. One of the greatest, for sure.
