Sumatra Takengon IKA

  • Sumatra is an origin unique in coffee, and if you’re a fan, no other coffee will do. This coffee comes from the Aceh (ah-chay) region, on the northernmost tip of the island of Sumatra, located in the Indonesian archipelago. There are two things that create the distinct character in these coffees: the varieties and the processing. Catimor is one of many types of coffee grown in Sumatra that are a cross between the disease-resistant Timor hybrid and a tasty variety of Arabica (in this case Caturra). These Timor crosses are inherently heavy, earthy coffees. It’s processed in the traditional method for the region, wet-hulled. This only adds to the intensity of aromatics and produces a coffee unlike anything else.
