  • Devon Estate is located on the flanks of Merthi Mountain and owned by a kind and beautiful woman named Roshin Varghese. The farm was originally planted by a colonist during English occupation, but times in rural India were tough before cars and roads. Many found it difficult or even dangerous to stay after India declared independence in 1947, and landowners abandoned or sold their property at a very low price. Roshin’s grandfather acquired Devon from the Brit and the family continues to grow coffee on the land today. Selection nine is a cross between the Timor hybrid and an Ethiopian variety called Tafarikela. This variety is very popular in India and has won honors in some of the “best of” competitions.
