Ethiopia Kontema Natural

  • From the Sidama region of Ethiopia, this coffee is the result of many years of development and determination. A man named Asefa Dukamo grew up on a small farm and found a niche buying coffee cherries from neighbors and relatives, which he would sell to the washing station for processing. After some time and too many miles, he constructed his own washing station near his parents’ house. Finding some success, he built another in a neighboring village. Today he operates twenty washing stations, five mills and three coffee farms. Buying cherry from small, local farms, the coffee is sorted for density and then laid out on drying beds where it is rotated every thirty minutes to ensure quality. After 12-15 days, the coffee is milled and exported, roasted by me, ground, brewed and drank by you. (photo courtesy of Mercanta)
