Costa Rica Miramonte H1 Natural

  • Hacienda Miramonte is owned by Ricardo and his daughter, Viviana. The farm is located near the town of Naranjo, not far from Costa Rica’s capital city. When I first visited a handful of years ago, Ricardo had just built a new patio for producing naturals, and the coffees have been stupendous. This one is a new variety called H1 (”ache uno” in Spanish), also called Centroamericano. The coffee is light and brisk, almost ethereal on the palate. The fruity aromatics feel like they’re swathed in a soft blanket of hazelnut, but lie on the palate long after the coffee is gone. This isn’t a coffee for everyone, but a cup intended for cool people like us who appreciate the finer things in life.
