Colombia Dos Quebradas

  • Dos Quebradas means “two springs,” thus named because the farm sits astride a pair of streams that were previously panned for gold. The owner of the farm, Daimes Polania is a strong but amiable leader and agriculturalist whose love of farming is evident in the cup. The drive out to his farm from Huila’s capital city of Neiva through lonely mountain villages makes for a rural retreat at the end of the road where we found Daimes astride a motorbike, anxious to show us his land. This is a washed Caturra which was held in cherry overnight before depulping and then 22 hours of fermentation. This prolonged processing method adds some sweetness to the cup and creates a coffee that’s as good as gold.
