No one wants to make decisions before they’ve had their morning coffee. That’s why our baristas are now suggesting a food pairing with our featured coffee of the week. It sounds a little snooty, but don’t worry. We’re talking real food. Our bakery is just crafting a treat each week that is designed to complement the flavor and aromas of our roaster’s choice coffee.
This week, we’re baking caramel-banana donuts. Drizzled in caramel, with an explosively sweet bite of caramelized banana inside, these donuts pair up perfectly with our fresh-roasted Kangunu AA from Kenya. The coffee comes from the slopes of Mount Kenya, the second-highest peak in Africa. It’s grown on the numerous smallholder farms that form the Kagaari South Farmers Cooperative Society and is delivered to the Kangunu Coffee Factory, which has been around since 1966. You’ll get a nice burst of blueberries on your tongue when you drink this coffee, and the heady aroma of coconut lingers on and on.
