Maduro Lot 24

  • Maduro, originally known as El Boton Natural, was the first dry-processed coffee to be exported from Colombia way back in 2008. That was a project we spearheaded in order to learn what effect different processing methods would have on the same lot of coffee. Ariel Montoya graciously let us take coffee from the highest point at El Boton, a lot called El Concilio, and experiment with different lengths of fermentation, honey processing, and naturals. This one was decidedly everyone’s favorite and we fought with the Colombian Coffee Federation to get it exported. Many years and as many lots later, we’re down to the penultimate, Lot 24. With a decidedly nutty aroma, this one turns the usual profile on its head.
