DoubleShot Duathlon 2007

DoubleShot Duathlon 07
Originally uploaded by doubleshotcoffee
This coming Saturday, October 6, is the 2nd annual DoubleShot Duathlon at Turkey Mountain here in Tulsa.

It's a lot of fun. Racers will compete in a 3 mile run, 8 mile bike, and another 3 mile run. All on twisty, rocky, rooty singletrack. We have some great sponsors again this year, and the race should be full of cheering, laughing, beer drinking, hot dog eating, and excitement.

It's not too late to sign up, so if you want to race, register soon!
If you want to come out and watch and cheer and drink free coffee and beer, come ahead. If you want to volunteer to help us with various simple duties around the course (or if you want to stay up all night helping set up the course friday night), send me an email.

You can see all this and much more (more than you probably want) on the DoubleShot Duathlon website.

Isaiah's Mouth

A week or two ago, Isaiah and I were reading some coffee blogs when we ran across some pictures of a guy pouring latte art into another guy's mouth. We read and found out that someone had thrown down a latte art challenge to pour into unusual objects.

Well, Isaiah can pour hearts and rosettas all day long in cups, so he said, "they poured it in SOMEONE ELSE'S mouth?" And he went on to tell me that he could pour latte art in his OWN mouth.
This is commonly known as one-upping the competition. You can click on the picture to the right to see more photos of Isaiah pouring in a cup and in his own mouth. You can also see the video on the DoubleShot Propaganda page.

What you got now?

I'll be racing on a team of four called Back Spasm (team #19). It's the first time I've raced my bike in a Loooooong time, so I'm pretty excited. I spent some time last night putting the bike into race shape. The Nemesis is ready; I hope I am.

You can track the progress of our team (though not my coffee-drinking) on the Granny Gear RealTime Race Timing System. The race starts at noon on Saturday and ends after noon on Sunday.

p.s. The DoubleShot will SHUT an hour early (2p) tomorrow.

The way I saw it in my garbage can...

subjective
Originally uploaded by doubleshotcoffee
As I was closing up yesterday I looked in the trash can and saw this Starbucks cup. First, who in high hell is throwing Starbucks cups in my trash cans? Ken Levit? That's some sort of cross-over. Whoever drinks coffee at Starbucks AND at the DoubleShot sure must have a brooooooaaad palate. Which leads me to the funny thing about the cup, and why I'm mentioning at all. Normally I would just leave it in there and toss the sack in the dumpster, but this is a special cup.

The Way I See It #270
It starts out: "Taste is subjective." HA! On the back of a Starbucks cup! How appropriate. It continues, "Taste is democratic. Taste is powerful. Taste-- the combination of texture, aroma, temperature, aesthetic and environment..."

An here I thought taste was about venti and iTunes and sugar-free sweetner and trademarked names of milkshakes. Gosh, I had it all wrong. Is it irony or apropos?

If you haven't been checking up on the DoubleShot Propaganda page regularly, you probably don't know what I'm laughing about.

It's the place where you can access this blog, the AA Cafe podcast, see the pic o' the week, a coffee-related cartoon, and the latest propaganda video.

Last night, Rick Tillery (formerly of channel 2 works for you) recorded the first video edition of DoubleShot Coffee News. Funny stuff.

Watch, read, listen, drink...
