Weather Alert

RainyDays

Oklahoma is officially NOT in the midst of a drought.

It's been raining here. Every day. I know, because people keep coming in and telling me about it. "How do you like this weather?"

Anyway, it's wet.

I'm not sure it has any effect on community coffee-drinking. Except that, when it's raining cats and dogs, people don't want to get out of their cars.

When will the rain stop? I don't really care. I kind of like it. Nice porch-sitting weather - book reading, beer drinking, cat petting...

Taste

That's my tongue.

I've been suffering for the last three weeks from mold in my apartment. It sucks. Lots of mildly irritating symptoms- the worst of which is messed up sense of taste. For the last three weeks, everything has tasted terrible to me. At first I thought maybe there was something wrong with the coffee. But it was the drip coffee, presspot coffee, and espresso. Then I realized the beer didn't taste good either, and I didn't make the beer, so I couldn't have messed that up.

Anyway, not being able to taste correctly is terrible, especially since this past week several people have made a point to tell me how great the coffee is. People who might not normally say anything. And I know I'm missing out on some special stuff. Frustrating.

But today I had a thought: What if this is how most people taste? Could it be that most people can't tell the difference between good coffee and bad coffee because it all tastes bad? I'm just a little off because of mold in my system, but what if a lot of people were born off? Could I be experiencing the taste hell that most people live in? God, I hope not. But I guess it's possible.

Suddenly I feel like a Bud Light...

Well, it's all done.
The TulsaTri happened yesterday at Skiatook Lake. It went off with a few hitches, but hopefully everyone had fun. No one died and everyone who wanted to was able to finish. Raye, in typical Raye fashion, ran in her Bee outfit.
Thanks to everyone who raced and to everyone who volunteered.
Now we're looking forward to the DoubleShot Duathlon.
October 6 at Turkey Mountain.

Favorite this year? Costa Rica La Minita.
Horse that's favored to win? Curlin.

Tulsa: Tough To Sell Coffee

WTF
Originally uploaded by doubleshotcoffee
It looked like the Tulsa Tough people cleaned up over the weekend. They had a great turnout for the rides and great competition at the races. Plenty of people watching. Too bad none of them wanted coffee.

Wow, what a gigantic waste of time, energy, and money.
People always say, "There's only one way to find out." I just happen to be the dumbass that always finds out.

Thanks Brian Fontaine for enduring the pain alongside.
